my sister! because I did once. she's been out of the house for a long time now, but I got the chance to live with her for a month in Europe again. we just... work. it's really, really nice. our relationship enriches by the day as we grow older and more understanding of each other. so absolutely!

Why do you get out of bed every morning?
because I have to! or else I'd stay there all day, get fired from my job, and learn nothing. wouldn't that be nice.

I'm really, really afraid of the dark. that's the main one. I'm not even embarrassed to admit it now! I used to be, though. anywhere. even a familiar place, my chest grows heavy and I get panicky, nervous. even if it's for a moment, turning the lights off when I leave a room. I need to have a trail of light ahead of me. it's an awful feeling. you won't see it if you're with me, but it's under wraps constantly! this gut twisting feeling, my steps become a little quicker and my eyes dart in every direction. UGH. I can't even think about it. like, if my lights shut off right NOW. I'd die.
I was trying to figure this out before, trying to figure out where it came from, and this one memory popped up. my house was pretty weird for a while when I was younger, paranormal occurrences were regular. shit got really bad, heavy, and we had 2 exorcisms performed on the house before it was okay. most of it happened to my mom and my sister, and in my sister's room (my room, now). anyway, it was in the middle of all that, and my sister was at home babysitting my brother and I. we were all in my sister's room at night, just doing nothing. she left the room to go get something, and my brother got up to leave too. before exiting, he shut off the lights and closed the door, leaving me inside her room. I remember being so terrified! I didn't know what was in there, and that was the worst part. I was screaming, crying and banging on the door begging him to let me out. but he wouldn't! My sister eventually heard me and let me out, giving my brother hell. but yeah, it could have been that. but I don't know! I don't know if I'll overcome it, but I hope I do!

pretend I'm the singer of a band and that I wrote all these sad songs that I listen to hahaha I'm not kidding. shit. makes me feel better, because I know I didn't write them - and then all of a sudden I'm not so alone!

everything makes me laugh. hilarious moments, TERRIBLE moments. life can be really, really funny if you let it be! What is the weirdest thing you will ever admit to having done in the past?
I was in grade 9 and I really didn't want to go to school. I'm terrible at faking sick because I'm an awful liar and my mom always knows, so I tried thinking of ways to actually make myself sick. I was half asleep through all of this, in my bed. I decided that it would be a good idea to punch myself in the stomach, and that it would probably make me sick. So I punched myself as hard as I could in the stomach. I ended up going to school.

I just want to make money doing something I love to do, and one day start a family. those are the big ones. I've already started down the path of the first one, but no babies for me yet! I'm really enjoying just going with the flow right now, and doing what feels right in a moment. I only get to be young once, after all! my pursuit is a long one, and it's way too early to worry. one step at a time.

my mom, I would have to say. anybody that has met her can confirm! she's little and loud, she has a strong personality and a nurturing heart. she's had a wicked past, but takes in life with an even more wicked sense of humor. my dad is cold all of the time, and anybody that *really, really* knows me knows the ice cold front I can put up. there's a good mixture of both of my parents in here, but definitely more my mom.

I have just one, at least once a week, and it's been reoccurring for a long time now. I have a dream that I'm placed in front of a complete stranger, and we're standing face to face in the middle of a crowd, like a circle made for a fight. It's a different person every time, and I never know who they are, but I'm punching them in the face. except every single vengeful punch I throw, it loses it's strength as soon as it touches the person's cheek, so I barely even brush them. I'm trying over and over and over and over to do damage to their face, but every punch turns out light as a feather. the person is laughing hysterically at me, and the entire crowd is laughing, too. "she can't even throw a punch, look at her, watch this." stuff like that. It's the most frustrating feeling, ugh!

Who's your favorite relative and why are they your favorite?
my sister and my brother. there's no difference between the two.
despite the 10 year age gap, my sister is my best friend before anybody else. when I was younger, she felt the need to take care of me. she spoiled the crap out of me, and has been there for me through everything. now that I'm older and I can take care of myself, our relationship has grown a great deal, expanding onto adult truths as we both try to deal with them at different times. she moved to Ottawa about 6 years ago, which was devastating to let her go, but we still talk every single day. she knows me, and I know her. that's all I can say. she's a sister, a second mom, a soul-mate. I'm lucky as hell!
my brother is just over a year older than me, so we were incredibly close growing up. we mostly terrorized each other, or we'd team up and terrorize our mother. we've covered for each other when the other one decides to have a party, and he's gone ape shit when he believes a guy's hurt me. even during a family issue, we need to know where each other is at first. almost every time, we're in the exact same boat with our feelings and struggles. my brother puts up a hard and deceiving exterior most of the time, but I know he has one of the biggest and best hearts in the world. he's a giant and heart shattering softie underneath. I know this, because I do the exact same thing. most people say that a father is the first man in a girl's life, but for reasons I won't reveal, my brother is for me. and he'll always be my favorite man on earth!
after all of this, the 3 of us together have the most unbreakable bond I'll ever know.

haha, it's a bit of a story. I applied to 4 colleges, thinking that I wanted to go to college for business. I got into all of them immediately. realizing that I was perfectly able to go to uni, and that I've always loved English, I had made a huge mistake. with college and something as safe as business, I was settling with lowering myself because it felt secure. I wasn't going to do what I really loved to do, because I thought it was a risk. I said, "fuck that!!" I freaked out, because the deadline to apply to uni was long gone, so my guidance counselor said I could probably make it for late acceptance. I applied to 9 universities, thinking I wouldn't get into the majority of them, and I was willing to take anything I could get. And then I got them all. early. I'm an indecisive and over-analytical freak, clearly.

OMG MARY. We've known each other our whole lives (well, kindergarten on) but we both thought the other one hated the other, so we didn't become close until grade 10 (?) it's ridiculous, I know.

Jessica Guyon. She is one of the most admirable people I know! She has such a good sense of people, and she can see auras. She is so in touch with her spirituality and intuitive nature, I envy her. She's just so open to everything! She has a Christian fish tattoo and I saw her reading a book on Buddhist practices. She's looking for answers, and it's amazing. Too many kids our age think that they've got it all figured out, and what they figured out is that there's nothing to any of this. Yet, none of them had bothered doing any research whatsoever. I'm really learning from Jessica, because of this. I have the capability, everyone does, of maintaining an open mind. It just takes practice! I think it's the most admirable quality in a person, if you ask me.

honestly speaking, I've had a pretty good life. I've had my tough parts like anyone else, but they've all been relatively easy to get through. I haven't experienced anything truly that devastating, yet. I count myself very lucky!

What is the one thing you fear most?
Realizing I took a wrong turn somewhere in the road when it's too late to turn back: ending up with a ring from the wrong man, pursuing the "safe" career, settling for less because it's easier. I'm terrified of being haunted by lost possibilities.

I hated my life through most of elementary school. I had absolutely no backbone or confidence, so I was taken advantage of a lot. I just wanted to please everyone else, and in return I got stomped on and back stabbed. It made me more upset than I could bear at times, but I never showed it. I had always just convinced myself it was me who was wrong. Little girls can be so cruel and jealous, and I'll never forget that. I was unaware of it then, but now it's crystal clear. I stood up for myself in grade 9, after my boyfriend forced me to, and that was the beginning of an entire new (happy) me. To prevent those feelings from coming back, well, I moved to Bateman.

I was going through a tough time once, and I was basically questioning whether I was a good friend or not. I will never, ever forget what my mom told me. She said, "You get out of a relationship what you put into it." Those words struck such a deep chord. It answered my question, and flicked a little switch inside of me. Suddenly it all made sense, and I've had this new passion for relationships ever since. Not even with friends, but family and lovers too.

I've definitely thought about it, but it was short-lived. I would never want to jeopardize a strong friendship over a shot at romance. Usually when it fails, it's difficult to get back into an innocent friendship. I wouldn't want to push the limits.
I'm so glad you love Mrs. Hrysko, everyone always said they hated her and I always LOVED her. We just got each other, I love her humour so much. She also came into winners all the time when I worked there, she's such a glamour girl.

I really did not like Mrs. Broe. She was the worst English teacher I've ever had, and she was slightly nuts. Going from her to IB was like black and white! I really, really liked Hrysko and Ellement. Ha, both history teachers! I just got along really well with both of them, and I felt like they understood me. Mr. Muir was incredible in terms of his teaching style. He made me love math, and I got an awesome mark in his class. I had Grinton for data!

What makes you you?
It's funny, because there's been a reoccurring theme in my life lately. In the books I read, the people I know, the questions I have. The concept of identity can be such a crisis. I couldn't tell you what makes Teresa, Teresa. I'm not unhappy with that, however. I've only had 17 years with myself, and my slate is still very clean. I strongly believe that experiences shape a large portion of a person, and I haven't nearly gone through enough to know what's rooted deeply underneath it all. However, I'm grateful for the time that I have left to learn about myself (hopefully it's a large number of years!) Come back to me again with this question, and on my death bed I'll tell you what part of Teresa I've carried with me until the end.

It's a difficult process. For me, it's no use trying not to think about them. I let them flood my mind still, and I carry them everywhere I go. It's torture, really. Some I miss more than I can bear, and others slip away a little smoother. I carry them until the memories become foggy, and then all of a sudden I can't remember simple things like what they smell like. When I start to forget, that's when they're gone. It varies on the lover, of course.

No, exactly! That was exactly my reasoning behind going into business. I realize that a diploma can give me more options, but I don't want those options. I want English! I've decided that after my degree, I'm going to go to teacher's college. I've actually kind of fallen in love with that idea, haha.

best childhood memory ...?
I played road hockey religiously when I was a kid. I had mostly guy neighbors and my brother, so we were out there every single day! It was the best, honestly.

I can't stand it when people tell me I said or did something when I know I didn't. So basically, when people lie to my face about something involving me. So frustrating! It really depends what I'm in the mood for! If I want a clever and easy read, Klosterman. I used to like Palahniuk a lot, but not so much anymore. I don't really know! I'm trying to read all the classics lately, so maybe a favorite will emerge from there.

Well when someone is trying to impress, what they do is very forced. You're right in the sense that what people do defines their character, but if they're natural about it then they're not trying to "do" anything. Through this naturalness is where I find the character. I do see where you're coming from, though. Does this answer your question?

Of course it's meaningful to me, with the right person. When you genuinely connect emotionally with a partner, the physical connection just follows. To be honest, that's the only time sex is actually beneficial, for me at least. But it's not necessarily easy to find at first! Because of this, I wouldn't have sex with somebody I didn't care about. I think a count at this age is irrelevant, and shouldn't be judged. Whether it's 15 or 0, a person's sex life is their business and shouldn't have to make or break them. It's a certain side of a person that's kept away from the public for a reason, it's completely personal.

I never did... haha, it was honestly a nightmare. We had to stay the night at a hostel in Nice, and then the next day my sister and my grandma flew out to Rome, meanwhile my mom and I hopped trains all night to meet them there. I finally got issued a temporary one once we got in Rome.
